Initially, the Vicar lived in the Vicarage at Bywell and the Curate in a property on Cadehill Road but both were sold in the mid twentieth century and the new vicarage is located behind St John's Church.

In 2000 a very useful Church Hall was added to the plot at St John's which is greatly appreciated by both the congregation for its many amenities by the community groups and individuals which take up the opportunity to hire it for either occasional social occasions or regular booking for groups.

In 2020 the area of grass at the front of the church was converted into a 2020 Garden for our neighbours to take a moment of peace and beauty. We regularly also use the Hall for worship and the Garden too, when weather permits.

St John's Church was built in the 1920s to serve the growing community of Stocksfield, including Branch End and the Painshawfield Estate. The parish church remains St Peter's.
St John's has a wheelchair access ramp, plenty of parking and convenient, accessible facilities such as kitchen and toilets in teh adjacent church hall.
