St John’s 2020 Garden
Memorial Service 29th August 2021 at 3 pm
Covid 19 has had a huge effect on all of us, but particularly on those people who have lost loved ones during the pandemic, have been unable to say good-bye or have been unable to have the funeral service they we would have wished for. It has been a painful time for so many.
St John’s 2020 garden came into being as a response to this terrible situation. The idea was to create a place of beauty where those we have loved and lost could be remembered, a place to come and sit, remember and mark the suffering of so many.
We would like to invite you and your family to come along to our memorial service on 29th August and if possible, to bring a pebble with the name of your loved one on it. During the service we will read out the names and invite people to place their stone in the garden as a memorial.
WET WEATHER ARRANGEMENTS:
Should it rain on Sunday afternoon – the arrangements will be as follows:
People can still come and lay a stone in the garden – there will be someone present to explain where to lay stones and to assist and some stones available for those who have not been able to bring their own.
Prayers said every 15 minutes in St John’s at 3 pm, 3.15 pm, 3.30 pm, 3.45 pm, and the church will remain open until 5 pm.
Names of those in memory of whom stones have been laid in the garden will also be recorded and a list will be posted in St John’s porch.
